This is also a course in American culture which will study how, for 200 years, the country that we live in has developed into the greatest nation in history. We will not directly study the dates, historical facts, and specific events of our past, but rather we will look to the writers (and often the fictional characters they created), leaders, and thinkers who lived through our history to open for us a window into our past. We will use that information to better understand the world in which we presently live and where each of us fits into it.
